Apple Turnovers
Ingredients:
– 2 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and diced
– 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
– 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
– Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, mix the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice until well combined.
3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface, and cut it into squares or rectangles.
4. Place a spoonful of the apple mixture onto each pastry square, leaving a border around the edges.
5. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a triangle shape and seal the edges by pressing them together with a fork.
6. Brush the turnovers with the beaten egg wash to give them a golden color when baked.
7. Transfer the turnovers to the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
8. Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. You can dust them with powdered sugar if desired.
9. Enjoy your homemade apple turnovers!
